In recent years, tools in the JavaScript ecosystem have evolved beyond their traditional roles. As individual tools take on a broader range of responsibilities, the boundaries between them are becoming increasingly blurred.

How much should a single tool take on, and what should it leave to other tools or to standards? How can we reconcile preserving compatibility with creating unique value, and technical progress with sustaining an open ecosystem?

In this panel discussion, our panelists will explore where the JavaScript ecosystem stands today and where it may be headed next, through the lens of the boundaries between tools, between implementations and standards, and between projects and communities.

Discussing the Future of Server-Side Frameworks: The Past, Present, and Future with Nitro, Hono, and Elysia

Driven by the evolution and diversification of runtimes like Bun and Deno, as well as the rise of AI agents, server-side development in JavaScript and TypeScript is expanding its roles and domains while blurring the boundaries with the frontend. Amidst these changes, what form should next-generation web frameworks aim for?

In this panel discussion, we welcome Pooya Parsa, Yusuke Wada, and saltyaom—the creators of Nitro (H3), Hono, and Elysia—to delve deep into the theme of "The Past, Present, and Future of Server-Side Frameworks."

Starting with a look back at past design philosophies, the discussion will explore the relationship between developer experience and AI experience in the age of AI. We will also tackle questions such as whether frameworks should be single-function, lightweight parts or evolve into comprehensive foundations that complete the entire development process. This session will comprehensively untangle guidelines for future web development.

Have you ever used a frontend framework like Vue.js or React and wondered, “What’s actually happening under the hood?”

In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore how frontend frameworks work using chibivue, a learning resource designed to help you understand the internals of Vue.js.

By implementing key concepts such as reactivity and the Virtual DOM yourself, you’ll get a firsthand look at what’s usually hidden behind the libraries and frameworks you use every day. Through this experience, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how frontend frameworks work under the hood.

Whether you’re a Vue.js user or work with another framework such as React, there’s something here for everyone. Once you understand how things work behind the scenes, the frameworks you use every day may start to feel a little more familiar—and a lot more interesting.

How to Join

  • To participate in the hands-on workshop, you will need both a General Admission Ticket and a Hands-on Workshop Ticket.
  • The Hands-on Workshop Ticket costs ¥500.
  • The workshop will be conducted in Japanese only.
  • Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend signing up early!
